March 2, 1951 – April 11, 2021

The Zahrbock Funeral Home of Madison announces the death of 70 year old Gwen Smith of Madison who passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at her home in Madison.

Celebration of life memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2021, St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Madison, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass.

Father Brian Oestreich will officiate at the Mass.

Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Gwen Rejean Pashen was born on March 2, 1951 to Robert and Greraldine (Foss) Pashen in Morris, Minnesota. She graduated from Morris High School.

She was united in marriage to Charles Smith on June 27, 1970 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. To this union two children were born, Stacey and Corey.

They moved to Madison on January 15, 1971 where they opened the C. Edwards Studio. Gwen worked with Charlie side by side for 50 years photographing many weddings, sports teams and family photos.

In life, Gwen enjoyed going to the lake where she would relax on the pontoon and visiting with family and friends. She was especially proud of teaching CCD for 25 years and organized two missions.

She is survived by her husband Charles of 50 years, her children, Stacey (Jerry) Vetsch of Becker, MN, Corey (Karla) Smith of Alexandria, MN, 2 grandchildren Eli and Maci Smith, mother Geraldine Pashen of Morris, brother Randy (Cindy) Pashen of Morris, MN, Janet ( Steve) of Sauter of Morris, MN and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father Robert Pashen, brother Tom Pashen and sister Julie Kieffer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Prairie Lakes Cancer Center in Watertown, SD; Lac qui Parle Hope Network, Sanford Health Hospice or St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
