Frank Zahl

Frank Zahl, age 89 of Park Rapids, MN, formerly of Morris, MN, passed away on June 19, 2022 at the age of 89, with his wife by his side.

Frank was born on October 5th, 1932 on the home farm in rural Morris, MN, to Frank and Vera (Burbank) Zahl. He attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Morris high school in 1951. Frank farmed with his dad and built up a nice herd of dairy cows.

He enjoyed roller skating at a country roller rink, where he met his future wife, Margaret Nagl. They were married on October 14, 1961. They were blessed with 2 children, Brian, and Cindy. Frank loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and working with wood. He did a lot of wood cutting. He worked on various dairy farms and in 1971, went to work on a turkey farm by Eden Valley, MN for the next 22 years. He and his wife bought some land north of Park Rapids, in 1983, where they built their retirement home, and moved there in 1995. Frank worked for Greenview, out of Itasca Park, for over 10 years.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years: Margaret; son: Brian (Shane) Zahl of Eden Valley, MN; daughter: Cindy Zahl of Park Rapids, MN; three sisters: Gladys (Jim) Henricks of Morris, MN, Susan Hulzebos of Buffalo, MN, Sally Valentin of Richmond, MN; sisters-in-law: Helen Schroeder of Aitkin, MN, Patty Slack of Minneapolis. MN, brothers-in-law: George Nagl of Morris, MN and Donald Nagl of Arizona, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, dad, and sisters: Gayle Smith, Carol Burbank, Bonnie Hammond, and twins: Vera and Helen, brothers-in-law: Floyd Smith, Gordon Hammond, Jum Burbank, Ervin Koehler, and Pete Hulzebos; sisters-in-law: Delores Schuetz, Theresa Brosh, and Dorothy Schuelke.
