Douglas James Lawson

Douglas James Lawson of Golden, CO, formerly of rural Alberta, MN passed away September 30 after a brief battle with cancer.

Doug was the youngest child born to Floyd and Ida Lawson of Alberta, MN on September 12, 1960. He attended elementary school in Alberta and graduated high school from Chokio-Alberta in 1979.

Doug’s interest in cars and trucks started at a very young age and continued throughout his adult life. He and his brother Roger had an auto body shop in Texas for several years, then they moved to Golden, CO. Doug has had his business, Lawson’s Paint and Body in Golden, CO for nearly 30 years. He has done some amazing auto and truck designs and rebuilds and was featured in several truck magazines as well as on Velocity TV. He has taken auto body building to an art form with his creations. He was also an avid hunter and sportsman, hunting in the beautiful mountains of Colorado.

Doug is survived by his wife Joy (Ring) formerly of Morris, MN and son James of Golden, CO; his sisters Eleanor (Carl) Greenway of Bluffton, SC, Judy (Dave) Wood of Oceano, CA; his brothers Gary (Linda) Lawson of Nampa, ID, and Roger (Beckie) Lawson of Golden, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jeanette, and brothers Duane and Ronald. A celebration of life is planned in the future.
