Chrystol Harriett Luthi, 86, of Washington, IL, formerly of Morris, MN, passed away at 9:50 pm Friday, October 8, 2021 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.

Chrystol was born June 5, 1935 in Ottosen, IA to Mike and Anna (Mogler) Schmidt. She married Reuben Luthi on March 22, 1959 in West Bend, IA. Chrystol and Reuben lived in Morris, MN, where they were active members of the local Apostolic Christian Church of America. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage and one son, Jeffrey Lee Luthi [dec.], who together with her grandchildren was the light of her life.

She is survived by husband Reuben of Washington, IL; daughter-in-law Shirley (John) Luthi-Cox of Washington; grandchildren Daniel Luthi, Joel (Marcy) Cox, Lydian Luthi, Alyson (Caleb) Wicker, Jenna Cox, Joel Luthi, Micah Luthi, Misha Cox, and Anne Luthi; great-granddaughter Laura Wicker; and siblings Mabel (John) Zeltwanger and Jerry (Judy) Schmidt. She was preceded in death by her son Jeff and brother Ivan (Evelyn) Schmidt.

Chrystol was known for her vibrant personality and remarkable energy. She always welcomed people into her home with outstretched arms, a big smile, and a “how you doing?” She never tired of giving vigorous back scratches, shopping, playing games and puzzles, whipping up homemade chex mix, and making new friends wherever she went. She leaves behind a legacy of Christian faith, along with a close-knit family and many extended relatives. Her enthusiasm and warmth will be missed by all.

Memorial contributions may be made to Apostolic Christian LifePoints (2125 Veterans Rd, Morton, IL 61550) and to Apostolic Christian HarvestCall (PO Box 3797, West Lafayette, IN 47996).
