Argil Archie Friedly, age 79, of Johnson, MN, passed away peacefully at Essentia Health-Grace Home on Thursday, June 3, 2021.

Argil was born in Graceville, Minnesota to Drusilla and Archie Friedly. He grew up on the family farm, north of Johnson, MN. Argil was always interested in all things mechanical—from his erector set he prized as a child to the motors in the wide variety of cars that he owned throughout his life.

Argil grew soybeans and wheat on the family farm until he was 75 and decided to retire. When he wasn’t farming, he spent his time with his long-time girlfriend, Tomoko (Tommi) Haugen, or with his family and friends. He always knew which casino had the best crab legs, although he rarely gambled, himself.

Argil always had a smile to share or story to tell. He was a unique individual who befriended everyone. No matter which town he would visit there was always someone there who knew him and liked him.

Argil is preceded in death by his parents Drusilla and Archie Friedly. He is survived by his daughter, Allison Friedly of Ortonville, one granddaughter, Cora Mallory of Ortonville, and his special friend and long-time companion, Tomoko Haugen of Graceville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton, MN with Father John Paul Knopik Celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Morris, MN.
