Vicki Lynn (Van Kempen) McNally
Vicki (Van Kempen) McNally was born July 4th, 1951 to James & Blanche (Bresson) Van Kempen in Memphis, TN due to her dad’s military service being stationed there. She passed away peacefully at her home in North Branch, MN on July 17, 2019 at the age of 68. Vicki and her family moved back to Morris in 1952 where Vicki grew up, oldest of 9 siblings, graduated from Morris High School in 1969. After graduating she lived in Hopkins and worked at Honeywell. Moving to Center City in 1977 with her husband Dan McNally from Chokio, MN, Vicki worked at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lindstrom for 27 ½ years as their Business Administrator, then went on to work for Chisago Lakes Middle School for 3 years as a secretary to the principal until her retirement. Vicki suffered a stroke in Dec. of 2017. She passed away from continuing health issues due to her stroke. Known simply as “Vicki”, she was kind, humble and selfless. Her infectious smile and sense of humor brightened the cloudiest of days. Vicki was an avid quilter, skilled seamstress and involved in local schools and churches. She could be seen around the community helping others, organizing events and selling her hand-made creations at craft fairs. She was incredibly creative and loved making quilts and crafts as well as designing and sewing clothing alongside her daughter. Outside of her sewing room, watching basketball, gardening and canning were hobbies she had a passion for - and if you’ve ever tasted her pickles, you’d know she was truly gifted. She loved spending time with her sisters and family, and looked forward to weekends spent with them. Later in life, she found great joy in her grandchildren; laughing with them, teaching them to bake, making costumes and finding odd treasures they would love. She is survived by her husband of 48 years Dan; children, Erin (David) Duffey, Saint Paul, MN; Brendan (Crystal) McNally and their children, Braelyn, Calen and Nolan, Jordan, MN; Bridget McNally (Riley Lealos) and their son, Emmitt, Kenai, AK; mother, Blanche Van Kempen, Morris, MN; and siblings Steve (Jill) Van Kempen, Morris, MN; Judy (Steve) Soderholm, Alexandria, MN; Jane (Mark) Murphy, Glenwood, MN; sister, Louise “Lulu” (Dewey) Angrimson, Lindstrom, MN; Nancy (Jim) Weiler, Morris, MN; Mary (Per) Nilsen, Mendota Heights, MN; John (Chris) Van Kempen, Elbow Lake, MN and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Funds in her name can be donated to the St. Scholastica Convent, St. Cloud, MN 56304 or the Memorial Quilters of Forest Lake, MN 55025.
