UPDATE: Chamber hires Kolby Gausman; to be open on Fridays
The Morris Area Chamber of Commerce has a new part-time administrative director as it has hired Kobly Gausman.
Chamber board member Summer Anderson said Gausman started this week.
"We had some really good applicants," Anderson said. Gausman rose to the top as the board considered the focus and priorities of the chamber, Anderson said.
The chamber "thought long and hard on this," Anderson said.
Gausman will work 25 hours a week. Twenty of those hours will be in the office but the other five will be time spent with businesses and the public, Anderson said.
The chamber wants to prioritize helping member see the benefits of membership, Anderson said. And possibly, it could require the chamber to start new events, Anderson said.
"We could tell that she was somebody who take that and run with that," Anderson said.
Time spent outside the office could be taking a photo of a sales event at a chamber member and posting that on the chamber's Facebook page, Anderson said.
Gausman has worked as accountant with Seales and Munsterman accounting and has worked for Huebner Insurance Agency, the chamber said. She was also one of the organizers of the Evangelical Free Church's Kingdom Ball.
The chamber hours will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
Anderson said the hours are a change from the prior schedule which included being closed on Friday. The interim chamber staff noted that Fridays were generally busy in the chamber office, Anderson said.
The board decided to adjust chamber hours to fit busy Fridays, Anderson said.
