Drivers on Interstate 94 will encounter alternating lane closures between the Highway 27 and 29 interchanges near Alexandria on Wednesday, March 20.
Crews will be clearing snow to prepare the roadway for upcoming construction projects, and will begin constructing crossovers next week, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
At that time, traffic will be switched to one lane in both directions.
The bridge project near exit 100 began last year and included replacing the westbound bridge - a $2.5 million project. It will result in smoother, safer bridges, according to MnDOT.
The concrete construction of the eastbound lanes is a $5.7 million undertaking. It will result in a smoother, longer lasting road surface and help ensure that the transportation system will continue to serve the state for many years, according to MnDOT.
