Anyone traveling on Hwy 28 north of Morris could be noticing some activity at the former Shopko building. As of Monday, November 23, the building was sold to Town and Country Supply. They are currently in the process of doing some renovations in the building.

Kurt Domnick of Town and Country explained that the building will be used as an additional location for Town and Country. “This will be a separate store location and the current business will not be moving,” he added.

“In general, this store will have more of a ‘home’ focus,” stated Domnick. “We want to fill the needs and gaps that currently exist in the community and surrounding area. We are not trying to be ‘Shoko’ or copy any other store model.”

Domnick added that to do this they would like input from the public. They need to know what people think the “needs and gaps” are. The public can send input to surveytch@gmail.com. Domnick added that when Shopko closed, many “gaps” were created and they will be considering new product lines to fill these gaps. It is currently a work in progress so now is a really good time to get input from the community.

There may be a bit of duplication between the two stores but they are trying to add as many new choices as possible. There are no immediate plans for expansion but instead they are doing some upgrades and a new layout. There will be new jobs available when the new store opens in the Summer of 2021.

Domnick said that the former owners had contacted him in the spring of 2019 and they have been discussing the purchase since then. Please give your input and watch for more information about the opening next summer.
