COVID-19 has claimed another victim – the Stevens County Fair. The fair board announced last week that the 2020 Stevens County Fair will not be held this year. Because of the restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic, the fair board discussed various options such as social distancing, seating, disinfecting, and all things required to run a “normal” fair.
It became apparent that it would be impossible to host a fair this year. The health and safety of the community, guests, volunteers, vendors, and exhibitors is a top priority for the fair board. With this in mind, they decided to not risk people becoming ill in connection with a large-scale gathering such as the fair.
“Even though we are not having the 2020 fair,” stated Ryan Sleiter, fair board president, “we are preparing for next year so we can have a great 2021 Fair.”
