Morris Memorial Day program at Armory

The Morris Area Memorial Day program will be held on Monday, May 30 at the Morris National Guard Armory starting at 9 a.m. The welcome will be given by Peter Flannery, CDR American Legion Post 29. 

The speaker for the program will be Ray Farwell. Ray grew up on a farm near Alberta and graduated from Chokio-Alberta Schools in 1968. In June 1970, he enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard in Morris. While in the Guards he was recruited to go to officer’s school and graduated a 2nd Lieutenant in 1973. He was assigned to the armor battalion in Chisholm and served as a tank platoon leader for three years. 

Music will be provided by the Morris Community Band, Invocation and Benediction by Pastor Mike Hanson. Earl Cline of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will also give a welcome and VFW Chaplain Monroe Estenson will have a prayer.

A brunch will follow the ceremony at the American Legion Post 29 in Morris.
