The Morris Fire Department recently competed in a November No Shave Challenge to raise money for the Morris Courage Cottage. The firemen challenged the other area departments in the fundraiser and set a goal for the funds raised. The Morris department raised money through a post on Facebook and was recently named the winner of the challenge. They raised over $1,000. Chokio did not set up a Facebook social media page but instead placed a bucket in the Chokio Cenex station to raise funds. The total from this is not yet known.

The Courage Cottage is a non-profit and residents who reside there pay privately. They are not funded by Medicare or county assistance. Courage Cottage relies heavily on donations every year to keep the business going.

Morris Firemen participating in the No Shave Challenge included Chief Matt Solemsaas, Darron Carr, Mark Nemmers, Luis Marconato and Jason Young.
