In a relatively short meeting on July 18, the Morris Area school board approved a long-term plan for facility maintenance. MAHS Finance Director Jeannie Maanum presented the plan to the board for approval. She explained that in each of the next ten years there will be money allocated for basic maintenance. However, in 2025 and 2027 there will be two major roof projects estimated at $1.3 million and $1 million respectively. This will include the 1968 roof over part of the high school excluding the gymnasium in 2025 and the remaining high school roof and possibly elementary in 2027.
Maanum also said that over the years there will be money set aside for tuck pointing, door replacement and any other structural needs. There are potentially some upgrades to the current boilers and replacement of chilled water pumps in 2029 that may cost about $552,000.
