The leading candidate of three finalists for Morris Police Chief withdrew from consideration, city manager Blaine Hill said on Jan. 14.

Hill said last week he expected to make a contingent offer on Friday, Jan. 11 to one of the finalists.

"We will go back to the drawing board," Hill said on Jan. 14.

Hill and the city's civil service commission were to interview finalists Michael Aschinger of Ogden, Utah, George Vinson of Harwood, North Dakota, and Dimitri Ikonitski of Morris last week. Ikonitski was recently hired as sergeant for the Morris Police Department just days before former police chief Ross Tiegs' retirement was effective.
