Three finalists for the Morris Police Chief position were to be interviewed this week, city manager Blaine Hill said.

Those finalists are Michael Aschinger of Ogden, Utah, George Vinson of Harwood, North Dakota, and Dmitri Ikonitski of Morris. Ikonitski was recently hired as sergeant for the Morris Police Department just days before former police chief Ross Tiegs' retirement was effective.

Hill said he expects to make a offer contingent on vetting to one of the candidates by late afternoon on Friday, Jan. 11.

Hill and the city's civil service commission are interviewing the finalists. Hill would select the chief from those finalists. He would recommend his choice to the city council for ratification.
