The Stevens County Board of Commissioners lowered the county tax levy from the amount shared at the Truth in Taxation meeting.

The final tax levy is a 2.74 percent increase over 2018 at $7,790,493 The increase presented at the Truth in Taxation meeting was 2.77 percent. County coordinator Becky Young had hoped to reduce that increase before the Dec. 18 county board meeting.

The increase was lowered to 2.64 percent but increased to the final level of 2.74 percent because of of some last minute changes in licensing costs for computer software, Young said on Dec. 20.
