Morris Fire Department firefighter Darron Carr was named the 2018 Firefighter of the Year, during the department's annual operations meeting on Monday, Dec. 3, at the Morris Fire Station.

Fire Chief Dave Dybdal said the criteria for being firefighter of the year includes performance beyond normal duties, appreciation of the work, having a positive impact and being an all-around good person. "Darron has gone above and beyond normal duties and is very passionate about being a Morris firefighter," Dybdal said in a news release.

Carr is also the fire department's fire prevention coordinator. He has been a member of the fire department for three years.
