Beginning on February 1 and running through March 20, you will have the opportunity to purchase girl scout cookies from girls in this area. There are four troops in Morris and each will be setting up sales at different locations and also going door-to-door. If you would like to find a sale location you can google Girl Scout Cookie Finder to see where the booths are at.
There is a new cookie released this year. The cookie is called Adventurefuls and replaces the Smore’s cookie. New last year was the Toast-yay which is the flavor or french toast in a cookie. Other varieties include Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties, Caramel Delights, Shortbread, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Lemonade and Caramel Chocolate Chip which is a Gluten Free cookie.
Amy DeVries is the Morris Area Cookie Manager and leader of Troop 481. She explained that each troop designates different areas to use the money raised from the Cookie Sales. It can go to places like the Ronald McDonald House, for Community Activity projects, camps, badges and trips. She added that if you buy five boxes of cookies you can be put into a drawing for five cases of cookies.
The cookies, which sold for $4.50 a box for many years, will cost $5 per box this year mainly due to increase in ingredient and shipping costs. Stock up on your favorites this month.
