The city of Hancock is inviting those interested in providing a place to rest in Hancock to buy a bench to placed in areas around the town.
City clerk Jodi Bedel said two new benches for the downtown area have recently been bought by the Hancock Fire Department and the family of Abe and Sereina Holleman.
The benches are made from recycled plastic and cost about $1,000, Bedel said. The city will place the benches, store them and do any required future maintenance, she said.
The cost of the bench includes the glossy style engraving. The fire department bench names the department as the donor. The family bench says it was given in memory of the Hollemans.
In several years prior to this summer, others have bought benches which have been placed at the water tower park, Bedel said.
Those interested in buying a bench should contact the city at 320-392-5285 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
