Cold temperatures and snow continue in February.  The mean temperature for February was 2.0°F, which is 11.3°F below the average of 13.3°F (1886-2018). 

This month ranks 5th for the coldest average temperature since 1886.  We need to go back to 1979 where the mean temperature was -.08°F for a colder February. 

Twenty-three days were recorded with a minimum temperature of 0°F or less. 

The high temperature for the month was 29°F on February 24.  The low temperature for the month was -26°F and occurred on February 1. 

The highest temperature recorded in February at the WCROC from 1886 to 2017 was 60°F on February 25, 1902.  The lowest temperature recorded historically was -41°F which occurred on February 16, 1936. 

Precipitation for the month totaled .80 inches, which is 0.12 inches above the average of .68 inches. 

Snow was recorded at 17.8 inches which is 10.5 inches above the average of 7.3 inches.  This February ranks 9th as the most snow recorded since 1886.  Twenty-one inches of snow cover was reported at the end of February.  We have recorded 39.4 inches of snow for the winter of 2018 to 2019.  Average for this time is 27.9 inches. 

At the end of January, twenty-two inches of frost was measured.  By the end of February, frost depth was at 27 inches.  Heating degree days totaled 1763 and the average is 1437.
