The United States Postal Service needs customers to clear snow and ice from walkways, sidewalks, steps, porches and around curbline boxes.

The USPS said clearing snow at least six feet on both side of the curbline mailbox allows carriers to approach and leave the box without backing up their vehicles.

Clearing away ice and snow to create a clear path to the mailbox makes it safer for mail carriers, the Postal Service said.
