Morris Police Chief Ross Tiegs will retire effective Dec. 28, city manager Blaine Hill said at the Nov. 26 Morris City Council meeting.

Tiegs has been in law enforcement for 33 years.

Tiegs said he started in March of 1985.

"We hate to see him go," Hill said.

Hill said the city will need to convene its civil service commission to start the process of hiring a new chief.

"We are just finishing the process to hire a sergeant," Hill said. The city plans to hire a sergeant with experience to join the Morris Police Department.
