Hancock City Council accepts Joos's resignation

Hancock City Officials said they expected Hancock Library Director Phyllis Joos to leave her job sometime but they were still reluctant to accept her resignation at the May 8 Hancock City Council meeting.

Joos has been the library director for 14 years. She plans to resign effective May 23 but will help the city in the transition to a new director, city clerk Jodi Bedel said.

"I knew this was going to happen sooner than later but I was hoping later," Mayor Bruce Malo said during the May 8 meeting.

The council accepted the resignation and authorized Bedel to advertise for a new director.

The council said it appreciated Joos's service to the community. An open house farewell will be planned, city officials said.
