Fall sports are beginning to wrap up as the the area's last volleyball and football teams saw their seasons come to an end. Morris/Chokio-Alberta volleyball had a respectable trip to the Class AA State volleyball tournament, going 2-1 to take home fifth place. The Tigers' football team also lost their first game of the state tournament, losing to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, and saw their season come to an end.

Morris/Chokio-Alberta and MACCRAY kept their playoff lives going with a pair of commanding victories over their opponents last week. The Tigers handled Litchfield with ease, setting up a 6AAA finals match against Albany. The Wolverines defeated 1-8 West Lutheran Academy last week, clinching a spot in the finals against Cleveland.
Volleyball postseason has begun and the Willmar Cardinals are looking to claim the first section title in program history. Over in the 3AA tournament, top-seeded Morris/Chokio-Alberta looks to be the runaway favorite in a local-heavy field. Lastly, the boys discuss whether MACCRAY will be able to hang in a difficult 3A tournament.
BOLD won big and Dawson-Boyd was upset in the Section 5A opening round, once again proving to be one of the more intriguing sections in the state. YME handled Martin County West in the Section 3AA opener to set up a big game against Lakeview this weekend. Clay and Jake discuss the rest of the action from Tuesday's opening rounds and preview the upcoming second round on Saturday.
Football playoffs are underway and despite some sloppy weather Willmar and New London-Spicer handled its business in Tuesday's section openers. The Cardinals opened up the Section 8AAAA tournament with a 42-0 win over Thief River Falls and the Wildcats handled Melrose to a tune of 35-12 in the Section 6AAA tournament. The boys spotlight the remaining area sections, most notably a loaded 5A tournament that seemingly has four legitimate state championship contenders. BOLD drew the top seed in a field that includes two-time reigning state champion Minnesota. Wabasso and Dawson-Boyd also figure to be in the mix. Every other sections is also previewed, as an ill-prepared Clay fumbles through an assortment of sloppily hand-written notes.
