The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has confirmed three new reports of zebra mussels in central Minnesota lakes in the last week: Detroit Lake in Becker County, Signalness Lake (popularly known as Mountain Lake) in Pope County, and Round Lake in Aitkin and Crow Wing counties.

MORRIS - Morris Boy Scout Wyatt Vavra was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on Saturday, July 23, in a Court of Honor ceremony held at Hosana Worship Center. The Eagle Scout rank is scouting’s highest honor with only 5 percent of Boy Scouts attaining reaching this milestone. To earn the Eagle Scout rank a scout must earn 21 merit badges, perform many hours of community service and have held leadership positions in the troop. Finally, a scout has to plan, organize and supervise a service project that will benefit a of a community, school or religious institution.

MORRIS, Minn. - No one was injured in a two-alarm garage fire on the west side of Morris Saturday afternoon. Morris Fire Chief Dave Dybdal reports that firefighters were called to 408 Idaho Avenue shortly after noon on Saturday. When they arrived, the garage was fully engulfed.
MORRIS, Minn. - Morris Area juniors and seniors will have a chance to spend “Midnight in Paris” for this year’s prom on Saturday, April 30. The public is invited to the Grand March at 5:30 p.m. in the Morris Area Elementary School gymnasium. Cost to attend Grand March has increased this year to $5 for adults and students. Grand March is free for children under five years of age. Doors for the public will open at 4 p.m. Photography will not be allowed in the gym prior to the start of Grand March.
