Horse riders will make camp in Morris on Sunday, May 28, as they pass through the region on the Trails4 Transplants 2017 ride. This is the sixth year for the ride that raises money and awareness for organ transplants. For Roger Hille, it's a personal ride he's taken each year. "My son-in-law is on his second liver transplant," Hille said. "I wouldn't have grandkids without (transplants)." "It's a beautiful way to raise awareness about a beautiful cause," Hille said of the ride.
When Nancy Zimmerman started working as a janitor at Morris Area Schools 32 years ago, the trophies inside trophy cases on the walls of Morris Area Schools had been neglected. "The trophy cases actually had cobwebs in them," Zimmerman said. Zimmerman had joined an all-male staff. As soon as she started she was assigned the cleaning of the trophy cases. She's tended to them ever since. She is so dedicated that even after she retired she returned to the district as a part-time janitor.

It's only a suggestion at this point but Morris Mayor Sheldon Giese said the Morris City Council needs to investigate a paperless operation. Giese made the suggestion at the May 2 council meeting. In a later interview with the Sun Tribune, Giese said he made the suggestion after reading more about other governmental bodies making the change in a governmental news update he receives as mayor. City council members have a packet of meeting information for each meeting. Those packets include the agenda and information needed for items on that agenda.
