By Sue Dieter Sun Tribune The 20 volunteer members of the Cyrus Fire Department are a trained and dedicated group of men working to provide fire protection and other emergency services for their community. As it turns out, they're fairly photogenic, as well. The 2007 Cyrus Fire Department calendar is now available, featuring photos of the active volunteer members as well as several retired fire fighters. The calendar is being sold as a fundraiser for the Cyrus Community Club.

By Don Davis Forum Communications ROCHESTER, Minn. - Mike Hatch finally is running for the job he long has wanted - Minnesota governor. And he is doing it with the blessing of Minnesota Democrats, who endorsed him Saturday night after he turned aside two state senators. He wasted no time going after Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty. "What this great state needs more than anything else right now is a new governor," the DFL attorney general told 1,300 delegates to his party's state convention after they voted to support him. Hatch's victory came after seven rounds of delegate votes.
Ted Storck hopes that his future travels with the Patriot Guard Riders isn't for the same purpose as their trip to Fargo earlier this month. Storck, of Morris, was among several hundred riders who paid tribute at the funeral of National Guard Spc. Michael Hermanson, who was killed in Iraq May 23. But the Patriot Guard Riders, as they have at other funerals, served an additional purpose. Hermanson's funeral was protested by a group from the Westboro Baptist Church, of Topeka, Kan.
