15 Years Ago July 16, 1991 Sun Morris has just completed a seventh successful Prairie Pioneer Days. The organizers and Morris residents worked hard to brighten a summer's weekend. Laurel Kayl was Prairie Pioneers Days coordinator. Highlights included the Alfalfa Arch, the Bells of the North English Morris Dancers, the Firemen's Water Fights, the Parade on Sunday led by the MAHS Band, the cookies served by maids in costume from the Stevens County Historical Society, the food and the sports events. The City of Morris will present an award to an individual, organization or business distinguished in efforts to promote human rights. The City Council on Tuesday approved a request to begin a Human Rights Award program, to be administered by the city's Human Rights Commission. The award will be presented annually, hopefully in conjunction with Human Rights Day in early December. Nancy Woodke has been named Associate Editor for sports and photography at the Morris Sun Tribune. A native of Morris, Woodke has more than five years experience working for local newspapers. Since April 2005, she had been the editor at the Hoffman Tribune. Prior to that, Woodke was the managing editor at the Chokio Review. "I'm very happy to have Nancy join our staff," said Sue Dieter, Sun Tribune Publisher and General Manager.
Several hundred people from around West Central Minnesota and beyond endured the hot weather to absorb the beauty and education available during the 36th annual horticulture Night at the West Central Research and Outreach Center's Horticulture Gardens Thursday. Group listened to one of many Horticulture experts on hand, and many were on hand for the dedication of the Wes Gray Backyard Garden. The Backyard Garden is sponsored by Gray's family, who began work as a horticulturist, educator and groundskeeper at the West Central School of Agriculture and the Experiment Station in 1948.

Harlee John Ehrp was born July 25, 2006 at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris to Stacy Ehrp and Adam Tomschin of Chokio. Harlee John weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz. and was 19 1/2" long. Grandparents are Tammy Ehrp of Morris, Rick Ehrp of Chokio, and Amanda and Doug Tomschin of Clinton. Great grandparents are Gladys Amborn of Morris and Donna Ehrp of Chokio.
Samantha Ann Maus was born July 24, 2006 at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, to Cheila and Matthew Maus of Appleton. Samantha Ann weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. and was 20" long. Grandparents are Martha and Craig Petersen from Brooklyn Park and Wayne and Mary Maus from Benson. Great grandparents are Arnie and Alvina Maus from Benson.
BRIDGET MAY ANDERSON was born at the St. Cloud Hospital to David and Lisa Anderson of St. Cloud. Bridget May weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. and was 20" long. Grandparents are Tom and Barb McNally of Clara City (formerly of Morris) and Dan and Pam Larson of Florida (also, formerly of Morris). Great grandmother is Helen McNally of Morris.
An open house 80th birthday celebration for Lois Gunvalson will begin at noon, Saturday, August 5, at the Starbuck City Park. There will be a program at 3 p.m. All friends are welcome.
