15 Years Ago July 23, 1991 Sun The weather was making the news Thursday evening in Morris, with a sudden thunderstorm and high winds that hit shortly after 5 p.m. Reports from the West Central Experiment Station (WCES) state a maximum wind speed of 46 miles per hour. Unofficial wind speeds at the airport ranged from 51 miles per hour to a gust of 80 miles per hour at the peak of the storm. The annual 4-H Clothing Day, held last Thursday at the WCES, reached an end with the announcement of State Fair winners.

Tyler Bruce Rolfsmeier was born on July 31, 2006 at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris to Derek and Nicole Rolfsmeier of Appleton. Tyler Bruce weighed 7 lbs. and 5 oz. and was 20 1/2" long. Grandparents are Marie Rolfsmeier from Appleton and Steve and Lori Rolfsmeier of Woodbury, Bruce Meyer of Appleton, and Peter and Alana Rens of Appleton.
Sophie Lucille Anderson was born on July 30, 2006 at Stevens Community Medical Center, Morris to Debbie and Keith Anderson of Chokio. Sophie Lucille weighed 7 lbs. and 5 1/2 oz. and was 19 inches long. Grandparents are Gary and Ione Bruns from Morris and Roger and Lila Anderson from Alberta. Great grandparents are Gene Nasstrom of Hoffman and Lucille Anderson from Morris.
KYRA MAY VOGT was born July 9, 2006 to Carl and Nikki Vogt of Chokio. Kyra May weighed 6 lbs. 8 oz. and was 19" long. Grandparents are Karen and Lyle Hettver of Alberta and Lorraine and Harvey Vogt of Chokio. Great grandparents are Ethel and John Freese of Maynard and Eleanor Fuhrman of Chokio.
Funeral services for Duane Eugene Busch of Chokio will be held Monday, August 7, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio. Reverend Robert Amundson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen, S.D. Duane Eugene Busch, son of Gerhart and Emma (Bierman) Busch, was born July 11, 1923 in Chelsea, South Dakota, where he grew up.
Matthew Dion Sherod, 20, of Appleton died Sunday in a drowning accident near Boyd. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 3 in Appleton. Burial was at the Appleton City Cemetery. Arrangements were with Zniewski Funeral Home-Vaala Chapel in Appleton. Matthew was born July 1, 1986, in Appleton to Dion and Susan (Fliflet) Sherod. He attended Appleton Elementary School and graduated from Lac qui Parle Valley High School in 2004. He worked at Sight and Sound Electronics in Morris. He was active with the church youth group and worked in the church nursery.
RILEY JACK STELTZ was born July 5, 2006 at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria to Douglas and Ahlica Steltz of Alberta. Riley Jack weighed 5 lbs. 12 oz. and was 19" long. Grandparents are Robert and Jackie Sime of Chokio and Robert and Sharon Steltz of Big Stone City, So. Dak.
