A note from Principal Ken Gagner As the New Year has arrived many of us have considered a new year's resolution – or possibly thought about the goals we set for ourselves in 2013. In school talk, we lay out our resolutions (goals) each September. At Morris Area Elementary School that means a clear focus on seeing every child grow academically and providing a safe, secure, and nurturing environment.
Morris Area Elementary School A note from Principal Ken Gagner November and early December have been very busy at Morris Area Schools. We concluded our first “Invest in our Youth” fundraiser (see below) and celebrated parent-teacher conferences, a third and fourth grade music concert, a book fair, and skating at the Lee Community Center, among other things.
As I sit down to write this the sun is shining and parents are streaming in and out of the building for our annual parent/teacher conferences. We know that strong parent and community support makes it much more likely students will be successful – so this brings a smile to my face.
Wow! It’s hard to believe but we are already six weeks into the school year, and time seems to be flying by.
The school year is off to a great start! It has been a joy to welcome back all the returning students and to say hello to those fresh kindergarten faces and those new to the district. I will be sharing school happenings in the Morris Sun Tribune on the second Saturday of each month and am grateful for the opportunity to keep you updated on the exciting events occurring in our building. I do want to make it clear that this is your school — and I encourage you to contact us at your convenience so that we may meet your needs in any way possible.
Wow! It seems like just yesterday when I was composing my first message for the Morris Sun Tribune and here we are in the final stretch. This will be my last update for the 2012-2013 school year, and I want to sincerely thank all of you for the warm welcome and support.
Awesome news: Morris Area Elementary School has been named a 2012 Celebration School! This award is given by the Minnesota Department of Education to recognize a school’s performance in student proficiency, student growth, and closure of the achievement gap. In other words – students, staff, parents, and the Morris area community are doing a great job!
