MORRIS – Beginning in January, Center for Small Towns’ student Abigail Thebault-Spieker has been digitally archiving documents for the Barnes-Aastad Soil and Water Conservation Research Association. The idea for the project began when Dean Meichsner, Barnes-Aastad treasurer, was trying to find the original by-laws and realized that it would benefit Barnes-Aastad to have a digital archive of all the historical and current documents. Barnes-Aastad Soil and Water Conservation Research Association is a support group for the USDA Agricultural Research Service that was founded in the 1950s.
MORRIS – The tunnel between St. Mary's Elementary School and Assumption Catholic Church got a facelift over the weekend thanks to a group of University of Minnesota, Morris students and students at St. Mary's.
MORRIS – Stevens Traverse Grant Public Health and Stevens Community Medical Center have partnered together to conduct a public health assessment of the five counties that are part of the Horizon Community Health Board: Stevens, Traverse, Grant, Douglas and Pope.
MORRIS -- Since November 2012, the University of Minnesota, Morris has slowly been converting some bathrooms on campus to gender-neutral restrooms as a result of a proposal from the campus' Queer Issues Committee. However, it is not the rise of these single-stall bathrooms that has students talking, but the implementation of a multi-stall gender neutral bathroom, located in the Humanities Building.
MORRIS -- Despite the harsh winter weather, construction of the Green Prairie Living and Learning Community at the University of Minnesota, Morris remains on schedule. With minimal construction delays, less than five working days, the McGough Construction crew has closed 50 percent of the roof of the “Green Dorm.” In the next four to five weeks, Site Supervisor Rick Lock expects the dorm to be completely enclosed, barring windows.
