Wednesday, November 1 College Volleyball UMAC Tournament Semifinals in Morris UM-Morris vs UW-Superior, 7 p.m.
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta will advance to the Section 3AA-North finals after a 3-1 victory over No. 4 Litchfield on Halloween Tuesday, Oct. 31 in Morris. The Tigers won 25-12, 25-17, 24-26, 25-16.

The Morris Area / Minnewaska / Chokio-Alberta / Benson / Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley girls swimming and diving team took third at the West Central Conference meet last Friday, Oct. 27 in Morris. Sauk Centre upset host Melrose for the WCC title, and Holdingford finished fourth. Six conference records were broken at the meet and the Gators added another swimmer to their section-qualifiers list, head coach Linda Hoffmann said. Mckenna Hufford qualified in the 200-yard freestyle.
The Morris Benson Area girls hockey team started practice Monday, Oct. 30 at Lee Community Center in Morris. The Storm is under direction of second-year head coach Abby Daly, a 2015 graduate of Morris Area and the Storm hockey program. The Storm has 13 girls on the roster this season, Daly said.

The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tigers traveled to Pillager to take on the top-seeded Huskies Saturday, Oct. 28. Pillager shut out the Tigers 36-0 to advance to the Section 6AA championship game next Friday, Nov. 3. The loss ends the Tigers' season with a 4-7 record.
The Hancock Owls and the Verndale Pirates faced each other for the second time this season Saturday, Oct. 28 in Verndale. In their first meeting, the Pirates won 61-18. In second meeting, the score was the exact same, but it ended the Owls season during the Section 4 9-man semifinals. The Owls finish 2017 season with a 6-4 record.

The No. 4-seeded Hancock Owls are headed to Pirate country, traveling to top-seeded Verndale for the Section 4 9-man semifinals at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. The Owls come into the contest 6-3 overall, fresh off a 52-20 dominating win over No. 5-seeded Underwood to open the postseason Tuesday, Oct. 24 in Hancock. Verndale is 9-0 and coming off a 47-8 win over No. 8 Onamia Tuesday.
