Morris Area 2016 graduate Lindsey Dierks earned a spot on the MCAC All-Southern Division First Team after the completion of her second volleyball season with the Minnesota State Spartans in Fergus Falls. The Spartans finished the season 17-11 overall after falling in the first round of the regional tournament. Dierks was fourth in the conference in digs this season, tallying 238 in conference games and 419 total in 2017. She earned all-around conference player of the week twice this season.
The Tigers of Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta took fifth in the Mid-State Sub 2 District standings. BOLD took first with a 7-0 district record. Minnewaska, A-C-GC, and Sauk Centre were tied for second with 5-2 records. Individually, the Tigers had two earn all-district nods and two earn honorable mention. Camden Arndt and Gage Wevley earned all-district accolades while Bain Laine and Alex Daugherty earned honorable mention. Arndt also received District Running Back of the Year.
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta eighth grader Meredith Carrington and senior Tate Nelson closed out the 2017 season at the Class A State Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 4 at St. Olaf College in Northfield. Carrington ran a 21:29.4 for 136th out of 174 runners on Saturday. She had her best time of 2017 in the Section 6A meet, posting a 20:30 back on Thursday, Oct. 26 in Long Prairie. That time positioned her at fourth overall, which sent her back to state after reaching state as a seventh grader.

The Marshall Tiger volleyball team defeated Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 3-2 (25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 22-25, 15-10) in the Section 3AA championship game at Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday, Nov. 4 in Marshall. The Tigers of Morris/C-A close out the 2017 season 21-6.

The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tiger volleyball team punched its ticket to the Section 3AA championship game for the third-straight year after a 3-1 win over No. 2 Paynesville in the Section 3AA-North championship Thursday, Nov. 2 at Minnewaska Area in Glenwood. The Tigers previously won Section 3AA and went to the Class AA State Volleyball Tournament in 2016 and 2015.
Meredith Carrington and Tate Nelson were sent off to the Class A State Cross Country Meet Thursday, Nov. 2 with a Morris Area Elementary and High School pepfest. Nelson, a senior, missed the send-off as he was ill this morning, Athletic Director Mark Ekren said. Carrington will run at state at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 at St. Olaf College in Northfield. Nelson will run at 2 p.m.
