University of Minnesota, Morris students and Morris community members will have a chance to volunteer in the area on Monday, Jan. 19 as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. It was a great Christmas for Ricky Anderson, right, following the gift of life he received in September from Kyle Athey (left). The two are pictured during their recuperation period at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. along with the commemorative pillow Rick received. The pillow was autographed by staff and visitors. Anderson was scheduled to go back to work at the end of December. Kyle returned to his position at Heartland Motor Company in Morris shortly following the surgery. (Submitted Photo)

Lynn Asmus, Jan Hagen, Kendra Brutlag from Bremer Bank, Nick Milbrandt and Peg Rinkenberger from Morris Area High School accepted the 2014 Working Class Hero Award from West Central Minnesota Communities Action for a project to organize food distributions in the community.
