Tigers outscore opponents 30-5, advance in Section 3AA-North

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta outscored two opponents, Benson/Hancock and Marshall, 30-5 in Tuesday's Section 3AA-North quarterfinals to advance to Saturday's winner's bracket as the No. 3 seed.

The Tigers eliminated the sixth seeded Brave Owls 10-0 in their first game of the night. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead, scoring five runs in the first inning. The Tigers scored their 10th unanswered run in the sixth inning to end the game.

No. 1 Marshall had defeated Yellow Medicine East 12-3 earlier that afternoon.

In the final game of the night, Morris/C-A came from behind to upset Marshall 20-5.

Down 4-3 in the fifth inning, the Tigers put together an eight-run rally. They added another three runs in the sixth, but Marshall stayed alive by getting in one run in the bottom of the sixth to extend the game to the seventh inning. 

Leading 14-5, the Tigers weren't finished yet. Morris/C-A put up six more runs in the top of the seventh and shut down Marshall one-two-three. 

The Tigers will return to Marshall Saturday where they will take on Pipestone at 12:30.
