Tigers earn No. 1 seed in Sub-Section 3AA baseball

The Morris Area/ Chokio-Alberta baseball team earned the No. 1 seed in Sub-Section 3AA and will host Redwood Valley Saturday at 11 a.m.

At 1 p.m. New London-Spicer will play Montevideo, also at Chizek Field. The winners of the two games will face off at 3 p.m.

The Tigers clinched the West Central North title by winning a doubleheader over conference rival Sauk Centre Thursday.

The Tigers are now 12-2 overall and 7-1 in the conference with two games remaining in the regular season. The Tigers host BOLD on Tuesday afternoon and host Lac qui Parle Valley on Tuesday night.

The Tigers defeated Sauk Centre 4-3 in game one Thursday. Tom Holland scored two runs and had an RBI-single, and Tanner Picht and Jake Torgerson each drove in a run. Torgerson pitched a complete game with no earned runs allowed, while striking out 11.

In game two, the Tigers shut out the Mainstreeters 10-0. Chandler Erickson was 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs and Tom Holland had three RBIs.
