Prep baseball: Morris/CA outlasts Monte

MONTEVIDEO -- Morris/Chokio-Alberta outlasted Montevideo 9-5 Tuesday to win its 10th straight game and advance to the Section 3AA Final Four.

The Tigers (14-6) used a four-run first and scored in four other innings to move into the section semifinals today in Marshall. MCA, the No. 3 seed from the North, meets Fairmont (20-2), the South's top seed, at 7 p.m.

Both the Tigers and Thunder Hawks collected nine hits, but the squads combined for 14 errors.

Tyler Henrichs and Tom Holland had three hits each with Henrichs' highlighting the Tigers' first with an RBI single. MCA sent up eight batters to the plate in the first and also got runs in from Tanner Picht's groundout and Jake Torgerson's sacrifice fly.

Brett Bergeson tripled in a run and went 4-for-4 to pace Montevideo (13-8). Bergeson's triple in the fourth chased Torgerson and Sam Mattson finished up to get the win, giving up two hits and no walks in 3.2 innings of work.
