Tigers host boys' golf meet

Morris Area participated in three golf meets last week, including a home boys' invitational at Pomme de Terre Golf Club.

In West Central Conference South standings, the Tigers were in seventh place overall after five meets.

Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg and Yellow Medicine East were tied for first place in the conference. Montevideo was only a point out of first place.


On Monday, April 26, the Tigers took part in the 15-team Ortonville boys' golf invitational.

The Tigers finished in 10th place. Jordan Kolden led the Tigers with an 81. Grant Gagner carded a 93, Tim Ostby posted a 100, and Andrew Rentz had a 101.

Ortonville won the team competition with help from Jesse Roscoe's top score of 73.


The Tigers finished in sixth place at their own invitational Tuesday, April 27.

Kolden led the Tigers on the home course with a 41. Ostby carded a 44, Rentz a 46, and Gagner a 48. Other Tiger scores included Alex Sinclair's 54 and Patrick Uphoff's 57.

Sam Peterson, the meet medalist, shot a 35 to lead Benson/K-M-S to a two-shot win over Montevideo and Minnewaska in the fourth West Central Conference South boys' golf meet of the season.


Thursday at The Crossings in Montevideo, the Tigers took seventh place.

Ostby led the Tigers with a 43. Kolden carded a 44, Rentz had a 44, and Sinclair posted a 53. The other Tiger scores were Gagner's 54 and Josh Taylor's 58.

Benson/K-M-S and Yellow Medicine East both shot a 164, but the Braves/Saints were awarded first in the meet by winning the tiebreaker, the better fifth score.

Tyler Jensvold of YME was medalist with a 37.
