Tiger girls fill cards at conference meets

Morris Area competed in two more West Central Conference South girls' golf meets, placing eighth Tuesday at Island Pine in Atwater and fifth Thursday at the Olivia Golf Club.

Sarah Roering of Minnewaska was the medalist with a 34, while the rest of her team took the other top spots. The top four Laker scores totaled 146, 36 shots better than runnerup BOLD, which was led by Kelly Peterson's 42.

Nichole Strei's 44 helped guide Montevideo to a third-place finish.

For the Tigers, Keli Pry carded a 53, Cassidy Hennen posted a 60, Sydney Engebretson had a 67, and Carly Gullickson had a 75.

Minnewaska's foursome again placed in the top four spots to win the third conference meet of the season. Roering led the field with a 37, followed by Allie Ostrander with a 41, Sam Falk with a 42 and Brianna Janu with a 43. BOLD's Chloe Altmann rounded out the top five with a 45.

Pry posted a 55, Pam Sax carded a 55, Hennen had a 59, and Engebretson posted a 62.

After three meets, Minnewaska leads the pack: (1) Minnewaska - 27; (2) BOLD - 22; (3-tie) Benson/K-M-S and Montevideo - 20; (5-tie) Paynesville and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City - 13; (7) Lac qui Parle Valley - 10; (8) Morris Area - 7; and (9) Yellow Medicine East - 1.
