Morris Area boys play two conference golf meets

The Morris Area boys' golf team placed sixth at Glenwood Tuesday and seventh at Appleton Thursday.

Lac qui Parle Valley edged Montevideo for the team win at the second West Central Conference South meet Tuesday at the Minnewaska Golf Club.

The Eagles and Thunder Hawks tied at 174 with their first four golfers' scores. Tanner Siegert had the lowest of the fifth scores of the two teams to give LQPV the victory.

Taylor Larson of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City won medalist honors, shooting a 38.

Jordan Kolden led the Tigers with a 41. Andrew Rentz carded a 47, Tim Ostby posted a 49, and Grant Gagner had a 53.

Yellow Medicine East edged Montevideo by one stroke at the third conference meet Thursday at the Appleton Golf Club.

The Sting won their second meet of the season, 161-162. Benson/K-M-S was third at 166.

Taylor Olson of YME took the medalist title with a 36, three shots better than the rest of the field.

For the Tigers, Kolden carded a 42, while Rentz, Alex Sinclair, and Gagner all posted a 48.

After three meets, Yellow Medicine East leads the conference: (1) YME - 25; (2) Montevideo - 23; (3) Benson/K-M-S - 21; (4-tie) Minnewaska and Lac qui Parle Valley - 17; (6) Paynesville - 12; (7) Morris Area - 11; (8) BOLD - 6; and (9) Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City - 3.
