After sending 19 shooters to Alexandria from Championships on June 6-10, the Morris Area / Chokio-Alberta trapshooting team took home some hardware, winning the Novice division championship.

Twelve MA/C-A shooters participated at the novice level and the top five scores were counted towards the team total, totaling 313, which ousted St. Michael-Albertville from sweeping the three divisions as SM-A took first in both junior varsity and varsity competition and second, behind MA/C-A, in novice. The novice division shot three rounds of 25 targets for a chance at a perfect 75 score.

Austin Hills led the Tiger novice shooters and placed third overall with a 65. Jarret Carlsen and Cole Kannegeisser both contributed to the team total with each shooting a 63. Tim Travis shot a 62, and leading the girls was Sam Henrichs who shot a 60. Henrichs also placed third overall in the competition.

Five MA/C-A boys competed at the JV level: Blake Koser, Philip Messner, Briar Peterson, Austin White, and Mitch Debuhr. Both junior varsity and varsity level competition shot four rounds of 25 targets, shooting for a perfect 100 score, which one out of 3,948 athletes received during the varsity competition.

Messner led the Tiger JV shooters with a 91, followed by Koser with a 85 and Peterson with a 76. White and Debuhr rounded out the 395 total with a 73 and 70, respectively.

Two Tiger boys, John Buendgen and Kyler Koubsky, competed at the varsity level, shooting 73 and 89, respectively. Colten Schoen of SM-A shot the perfect 100 score at the varsity level to lead his team to the Minnesota State High School League State Tournament last Saturday, June 14 where his team placed third in Class AAAA.
