Minnewaska tames Tigers
Minnewaska banged out six straight singles in a sixth-inning rally, and the Lakers topped Morris Area / Chokio-Alberta 4-1 in a West Central Conference game on Tuesday, May 13.
Holding a 1-0 lead, the Lakers’ Austin Ostrander led off the sixth with a triple. He scored on a wild pitch, and after an out, Minnewaska’s hit barrage tacked on two more runs.
Matt McIver, Matt Paulson and Michael Gruber each had two hits for the Lakers, and Riley Thompson pitched an eight-strikeout complete game to pick up the win.
Gage Bachman hit the RBI single in the seventh as the Tigers had the tying run at the plate with one out, but Thompson finished off the game with a strikeout and a grounder to first for a 4-1 Laker victory.
