Dutchmen take victory over Tigers

On Tuesday, Dec. 10, the Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tigers went on the road to Melrose to take on the Dutchmen. Despite a double-double from Tiger sophomore Eric Staebler, Melrose took the win at home 74-60.

Staebler hit 27 points and had 13 rebounds in the contest.

Noah Grove added 19 points, but it just wasn’t enough for the Tigers as Melrose pulled away in the second half behind eight three-pointers.

Seth Noll scorched the nets for a game-high 32 points to pace Melrose.

Ben Klaphake followed with 18 on six three-pointers — Noll made four treys.

Nathan Goebel had 11 points and Cole Van Beck canned another three treys with the win.

The effort from the free throw didn’t cost the Tigers the game, but it sure didn’t aid them in any way either, shooting just 33 percent from the free throw line. Grove was the only Tiger to shoot 100 percent from the line in the loss to Melrose.

The Tigers are set to host Sauk Centre on Thursday, Dec. 12, tip off at 7:30 p.m.
