Storm boys head into season finale with five straight wins

The Morris Benson Area offense was relentless against Bagley-Fosston on Saturday, scoring multiple goals in all three periods of a 9-2 non-conference win.

The Storm have won five straight games going into the regular-season finale on Tuesday at Wadena-Deer Creek.

Corey Goff and Bo Olson got the Storm offense started with a goal in under two minutes. After the home team got one past the Storm, Andrew Rentz scored on Tanner Picht’s assist and Mac Beyer netted the Storm’s third goal off of Brody Gimberlin.

In the second period, the Storm held Bagley/Fosston scoreless while adding four more goals for a 7-1 lead. Corey Storck, Tanner Mikkelson, Riley Blake and Beyer all netted goals. Assists went to Darion Helberg with two, Blake with two, Goff, Taner Gimberlin, Storck, and Mikkelson.

Brody Gimberlin scored another goal for the Storm in the third with assists from Picht and Jordan Staples and Helberg scored unassisted for the Storm’s ninth goal. Bagley/Fosston managed one for the final 9-2 score.

The Storm put 43 shots on goal – 37 in the first two periods – and goalie Kyle Kennedy made 13 saves for the win.
