Storm boys drop close game to Marshall

Morris – Tanner Picht’s third goal of the game put Morris Benson Area up 4-2 over Marshall just 12 seconds into the third period at the Lee Community Center Tuesday.

By the 4:00 minute mark the visiting Tigers were up 5-4 and made that stand for a Southwest Conference victory.

Derek Rasmussen scored at 1:18, Quinn Horvath at 2:33 and then again at 3:58 for the lead and a hat trick.

Picht got the Storm on the board with an assist from Mac Beyer early in the first period, but the Tigers tied it with less than a minute remaining before the end of the period.

Three minutes into the second period Picht scored again, this time from Brody Gimberlin and Beyer to put the Storm back on top. Marshall again tied it up a few minutes later. Brody Gimberlin quickly answered with an assist from Picht to regain the Storm's lead.

Beyer and Gimberlin recorded the assists on the first goal.

The Storm had a 45-32 advantage in shots on goal. Kyle Kennedy stopped 27 shots in the Storm's net.
