Storm make first trip to Section Title game

The Morris Benson Area girls advance to the Section 6A championship game by defeating Fergus Falls 6-1 Tuesday night.

It will be the first time in the history of the program that the Storm has appeared in the section title game.

The Storm, seeded No. 2, will face No. 1 Alexandria Thursday in Willmar. The Cardinals knocked off Detroit Lakes 8-2 Tuesday in Alexandria.

Sara Rajewsky recorded a hat trick, Dani Schultz had two goals and two assists, and Sam Falk scored the final Storm goal.

Rajewsky netted a goal in the first period to get the Storm on the board. Just over four minutes later, Schultz gave the Storm a 2-0 advantage. Fergus Falls answered late in the period with the Otters' only goal of the game.

The second period was a repeat of the first, with Rajewsky then Schultz scoring, but this time the Storm held the Otters scoreless.

In the final period, Rajewsky's power-play goal off an assist from Schultz put the Storm up 5-1. Sam Falk added an insurance goal with an assist from Schultz to close the scoring.

Brooke Falk, tending the Storm's net, stopped 22 shots on goal.
