Storm girls play at Hockey Fest
Members of the Morris Benson Area Storm girls' hockey team participated in Hockey Fest 2008 June 26-28 in Alexandria.
Hockey Fest featured eight high school girls' teams from throughout Minnesota. Other teams included the Schwans Blues, the TPS Outlaws, Detroit Lakes, Northern Lights, the Predators, OS XTreme, and MN Knights.
The Storm had the smallest roster in the tournament and competed with only nine girls, while many teams had more than 15 players.
The Storm started out Hockey Fest with a 14-0 loss in pool play to the Schwans Blues on Thursday afternoon.
On Friday, the Storm fell to the TPS Outlaws 12-0, but bounced back to defeat Detroit Lakes 11-1.
The Storm finished Hockey Fest with an 8-4 loss to Alexandria's Predators on Saturday.
The Schwans Blues shut out the Storm in the opening game of Hockey Fest 14-0.
The Blues made 48 shots on goal, while the Storm only had seven shots on goal.
In the penalty box, the game was even with both teams serving two two-minute offenses.
The next morning the Storm still could not get any shots to go in the net, being shut out by the Outlaws 12-0.
The Outlaws made 52 shots on goal to the Storm's nine.
In the penalty box, the Storm served time for three offenses while the Outlaws had two penalties.
Detroit Lakes 1
Later on Friday, the Storm finally found the net scoring 11 times against Detroit Lakes, while holding the opponent to only one goal.
The Storm out-shot Detroit Lakes 26-15.
Both teams took a penalty in the first period. The Storm also served two minutes in the second period.
In the final game of the weekend the Storm fell to Alexandria 8-4.
The Predators were called for the only penalty of the game.
The Storm made 29 shots on goal, but the Predators had 37.
