Storm skates over Trojans

MBA Storm 11, Worthington 1

The Morris Benson Area Storm girls had nearly 70 shots on net in the 11-1 victory over the Worthington Trojans in a prep hockey doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 1.

The Storm avenged an earlier 2-1 loss to Worthington in Morris on Jan. 24 by “cleaning house” in Trojan territory to end the regular season with four wins.

“We played a great game,” Curtis said. “Simple as that.”

“It was nice to see the offensive pressure. They took their time in the offensive zone and executed opportunities that they were given,” Curtis said. “It was a really good team effort and win.”

Head coach Jim Berens couldn’t agree more.

“It was probably the best game the girls have played all year,” Berens said. “They finally got focused and played the game they could. We had a lot of good unselfish plays and that’s what we’ve been looking for. It was a really good game.”

Kelsey Rajewsky posted six goals, and Hanna Lindblad added two and had three assists in the win.

Saturday, Feb. 1 marked the end of the regular season for the Storm. Now they have a weeks worth of practice to prepare for their first playoff game on Saturday, Feb. 8. Their opponent is yet to be determined.
