Baseball: Tigers shut out Pelican Rapids
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta shut out Pelican Rapids 10-0 in an add-on game Monday.
"We stole seven bases in seven attempts, got nine hits, and played errorless ball for the second straight game," explained coach Mark Torgerson.
"Chandler Erickson pitched five shutout innings allowing just three hits," added Torgerson. "Jacob Torgerson mopped up the sixth with two strikeouts in a 1-2-3 inning."
Erickson struck out seven to pick up the win.
The Tigers scored three in the second inning on RBI singles from Lincoln Berget and Tom Holland. They scored two more in the fifth with a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch, and pushed across five in the sixth with a rally capped by Beyer's two-run single.
"Mac Beyer continues to swing a hot bat with a 3-for-3 performance and two RBIs," said Torgerson. "We also had key hits from Bryce Jergenson and Sam Mattson off the bench in scoring five runs to break the game open in the sixth inning."
