Tigers improve to 2-1

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta got off to a flying start and never looked back in a convincing 73-40 win over Ortonville Friday, Dec. 9 at home. With the win the Tigers improved to 2-1 on the season.

The Tigers shot a blistering 54 percent for the night and cruised to their second win of the season against one loss.

Tiger junior forward Logan Manska connected on a pair of threes to get the Tigers started as they jumped out to a double-digit lead.

"The inside game got going as well and all of a sudden the Tigers opened up a 20-6 lead early in the game," said coach Mark Torgerson.

Junior posts John Tiernan and Austin Dierks each collected six first-half points and forward Riley Arndt added five points to help the Tigers gain a 34-16 lead by halftime.

"The Tiger defense, using a full court man-to-man press, forced several Trojan turnovers which added to the big lead," explained Torgerson.

The Tigers didn't let up in the second half as their offense continued to roll.

"The Tiger guards got into the scoring column in a big way as they started connecting from the perimeter as the Trojans went to a zone defense," said Torgerson.

Jacob Torgerson connected on a pair of threes and guard Tom Holland scored six points in the transition game. Arndt and Manska continued to be big offensive factors as they both finished in double figures. Manska collected a game high 17 points and Arndt added 11.

Eleven different Tigers scored and all 14 players dressed got minutes in this one.

The Tigers turned the ball over just eight times while the Trojans committed 26 turnovers.
